How Long is the Neuropsychological Assessment & What Can I expect Afterward?
The neuropsychological assessment typically lasts between 4-8 hours, depending on the referral question. During the initial appointment the neuropsychologist will conduct an interview with the patient and family to review the client’s history and discuss any questions that need to be addressed. The feedback appointment, typically scheduled 2 weeks following the initial meeting, will outline the person’s unique pattern of strengths and weakness. A written report will be provided at the time of feedback and will include treatment recommendations.
What can you expect on the day of your evaluation?
Wear comfortable clothing. Please bring contacts, glasses, or assistive hearing devices you may need and ensure they are in working condition. Bring a list of current medications and all relevant medical records (e.g., EEG, MRIs, CT scans). There is no way to “study” for the neuropsychological assessment, but participants are best prepared after a good night’s rest and healthy breakfast.
